Seahawks get first look at new coach Tom Cable

The Seattle Seahawks are looking to get a head coaching change and have hired Tom Cable, according to the team’s website.

“The Seahawks are thrilled to welcome Tom Cable as their new head coach,” the team said in a release on Sunday.

“He will be an exceptional coach who will be in the best position to lead this team through this transition.”

The Seahawks announced the hire of Cable in a news release on Friday.

Cable had previously worked as a college head coach, having previously spent four seasons at Miami before joining the NFL in 1999 as an offensive assistant.

He went on to work as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Miami before coming to the NFL as an assistant coach with the Seattle Seahawks.

He was named the NFL’s Offensive Coaches of the Year in 1999 and 2002 and was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004.

Cable was the quarterbacks coach for the Washington Redskins and New York Giants from 2000-03.
